Human Resources Generalist

Job Overview The Human Resource Generalist manages day‑to‑day HR duties at a professional level for multiple business units, focusing on new hire onboarding, performance management, employee relations, benefit administration, training, development, and compliance with employment laws. Responsibilities Provide support and guidance to team members and management on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations issues. Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Manage leave of absence administration and collaborate with third‑party vendors on FMLA/LOA requests and short‑term disability claims. Conduct effective, non‑biased investigations in partnership with the HR Manager, ensuring prompt resolution. Assist with I‑9 and E‑Verify management, including day‑one processing, audits, and communication with onboarding personnel. Support benefits administration. Plan and execute team member engagement activities and programs. Manage unemployment claims, providing timely responses to filed claims and handling unemployment hearings. Evaluate department reports, decisions, and results relative to goals, recommending innovative approaches to improve efficiency. Monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Assist HR team members on driver and non‑driver matters promptly. Answer emails and phone calls in a timely manner to ensure resolution. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date team member records. Provide recommendations for innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to ensure continual improvement in departmental efficiency. Ability to research and analyze data. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business/HR Management or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of 1‑2 years of Human Resource Specialist experience required. Previous HR Generalist experience preferred. Preferred Credentials Professional Human Resource (PHR), Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM‑CP), or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM‑SCP) credential preferred. Experience with a multi‑state environment preferred; Logistics/Trucking Industry experience a plus. Competitive Compensation Expected Pay Range: $49,657.00 – $56,492.80 (most candidates). Full Pay Range: $49,657.00 – $77,924.00. Pay Grade: 8401(k). The position includes a generous company match and financial protection for serious health conditions.
