Registered Nurse – Palliative Care (Medical Surgical)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 36 or 48 hours per week | Day, Evening, and Night rotating shifts | Weekends, holidays, and on-call per unit need

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive symptom management and end-of-life care for adult patients (age 18 and up) with complex needs
• Perform astute patient assessments to advocate for patients who may no longer be able to speak for themselves
• Deliver skilled IV therapy and wound care interventions
• Support and manage patients with complex medical needs and families in crisis
• Operate and monitor patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pumps as needed
• Care for general medicine overflow patients as unit needs require

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum of 2 years of recent palliative care or acute medical/surgical nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Strong IV skills and wound care proficiency
• Demonstrated compassion and ability to support patients and families through end-of-life care

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pumps
• Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) certification
