Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Ultrasound TechnicianThe Interventional Radiology Tech will independently operate equipment to perform a variety of complex sonographic examinations ranging from routine to highly specialized. Will review requisitions to ensure that the patient history and anatomical area of interest is consistent with the exam(s) requested. The spectrum of examinations performed includes the abdomen for tumors, cysts, abscesses, hematomas, inflammatory lesions, and the size and location of organs. Evaluations of the abdominal aorta for aneurysm and/or dissection, and chest exams for pleural effusions will also be performed. Neck, carotid artery, leg vein, and artery examinations will also be conducted. The MIT will also assist radiologists during invasive procedures and perform all types of gynecological ultrasound exams. Additionally, the MIT will perform quantitative Doppler measurements to determine blood flow profiles when indicated. MIT will also know the appropriate use of color flow/power Doppler to further evaluate areas for vascular patency/pattern.Shall have a minimum of two years of current work experience in specialized modality. Student internship and training time spent in a Radiology setting does not count towards the two years of work experience. Have a current and valid ARDMS license with advanced disciplines to include two of three licenses in Abdominal, OBGYN, and RVT.
