Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant Cambridge, MA How will your role make an impact at Aera Therapeutics? Reporting to the Director, Finance and Accounting, you will provide day-to-day support and administration of various accounting and finance processes, including accounts payables, purchasing, expense reimbursement, month and quarterly close, and yearly audits. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles and is looking to expand their real world experience in the life sciences / biotech industry. You will: Oversee end-to-end payment process; prepare and review weekly payment reports, initiate online bank portal submission for the weekly check run. Administer month-end close of accounts payable and assist with identifying month-end accruals. Resolve any account discrepancies through investigation of supporting documentation and direct communication with internal and external stakeholders. Retrieve, organize, and maintain vendor forms, ensuring full compliance with 1099 reporting. Review employee expense reimbursements for policy compliance, reconcile discrepancies with employees in a friendly and efficient manner. Prepare bank reconciliations and journal entries as needed. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations. Provide support and guidance to the independent public accountants in connection with the year-end audits. Effectively manage vendor and partner relationships. Support Finance team with ad hoc projects and participate in finance discussions and monthly close meetings. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 1-2 years of industry experience. NetSuite experience (or other ERP). Ability to translate financial concepts to individuals at all levels, including finance and non‑finance managers. Commitment to our Core Values: Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Impact. The approximate salary range for this role is $75,000 - $84,000.
