About the Position

Job Title: CVOR Tech Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Cardiac Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days + Call Hours per Shift: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in CVOR License: Required Certifications: BLS, CST or NCCT, ND UAP Must-Have: - Must be willing to cross-train into general OR if CV volumes are low - 2 years of CVOR experience, including open hearts, CABG, valves - Must be able to first scrub - Willingness to float to the floor as a 1:1 sitter for supplemental hours Description: The position involves working in a Cardiac Operating Room. The department has 2 CVOR suites. The average number of cases per day is 1-3, depending on the specific case. Common procedures include open hearts, thoracotomies, VATS, AAA, and carotid surgeries. Experience with ION robotic cases, ECMO, and Impella 5.5 is preferred. A charge nurse is available on each shift from 7 AM to 11 PM on weekdays and 7 AM to 7 PM on weekends. Shifts typically run from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM, starting at 6 AM for open heart case preparation when notified the day before. Call requirements are 3-4 times per week and every other to every third weekend. Availability for rotating holidays is expected. Response time for call is 15 minutes, with 8-hour reprieve shifts for post-call. A sleep room and housing options are available nearby for those on call. Floating to other specialties or serving as a 1:1 sitter may be necessary during low case volume periods. If floating is declined, it will be considered supplemental time off without pay. Scrub clothing will be provided. The department emphasizes a family atmosphere. RTO must be submitted upfront, with restrictions on additional requests after the contract begins. A cancellation policy permits 4 shifts within the contract period. EPIC is the charting system used. A BSN is not required for this position. The care setting is acute. The trauma level is 2.
