We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations for a growing organization in Harahan, Louisiana. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent and is ideal for someone who is confident managing both payables and receivables while maintaining accurate financial records. The role requires strong follow-through, comfort working with accounting software and Excel, and the ability to keep billing and reconciliation activities organized and on schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Manage incoming invoices, verify supporting documentation, and prepare vendor payments in a timely manner.

• Oversee accounts receivable activity by issuing invoices, applying payments, and following up on outstanding balances.

• Perform regular reconciliations for vendor accounts, customer accounts, and general accounting records to maintain accuracy.

• Review credit card transactions, record charges and receipts, and ensure payments are properly posted.

• Resolve billing discrepancies by researching account activity and coordinating with internal teams or external contacts as needed.

• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate any variances to ensure account balances are correct.

• Maintain accurate accounting documentation and update financial records within Sage software and related systems.

• Use Microsoft Excel to track transactions, organize supporting data, and prepare routine accounting reports.

• 5+ years of experience in an accounting support or accounting specialist role.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and account reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking, analysis, and reporting.
• Experience using Sage software or a comparable accounting platform.
• Ability to process vendor invoices and reconcile vendor statements with a high level of accuracy.
• Familiarity with handling credit card charges, payments, and receipts within accounting workflows.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
