Job Title: MIG Welder – Structural Steel Enclosures Job Description

Join a rapidly growing manufacturing operation in Charlotte as a MIG Welder, producing large-scale carbon steel generator enclosure systems and industrial power equipment. You will work in a brand-new, startup facility with modern equipment, contributing directly to the build-out of the operation and the future production of emissions-control systems for industrial power generation.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on carbon steel components, structural assemblies, and large enclosure systems for power generation applications.

• Read and accurately interpret blueprints, drawings, and detailed work instructions to complete welds and assemblies to specification.

• Fabricate, fit, and weld large generator enclosure systems and related power-generation structures from raw material through to finished product.

• Maintain high standards of quality, workmanship, and safety throughout all welding and fabrication activities.

• Follow production standards and work instructions to ensure consistent, repeatable output and adherence to customer requirements.

• Collaborate closely with production teams, including fabrication, assembly, paint, and powder coat, to support smooth workflow and on-time delivery.

• Use overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment to move and position heavy components safely, lifting up to 50 lbs manually when required.

• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, suggesting process improvements, and supporting the refinement of manufacturing methods.

• Support startup operations by adapting to evolving processes, participating in the establishment of best practices, and helping build foundational production capabilities.

• Work directly with visible leadership in a startup environment, providing feedback and input that helps shape the facility’s growth and operational success.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated MIG welding experience on carbon steel in a manufacturing or structural steel environment.

• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings (blueprint experience is required).

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship and weld integrity.

• Ability to read and follow work instructions, production standards, and safety procedures with minimal supervision.

• Capability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team-based production environment.

• Positive attitude, humility, and willingness to learn and take coaching in a fast-paced startup manufacturing setting.

• Comfort working in a rapidly growing operation with evolving processes and expectations.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely use overhead cranes or other lifting equipment for heavier components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience fabricating and welding large structural steel assemblies or enclosure systems.

• Background in industrial power generation equipment, data center infrastructure, or similar heavy manufacturing environments.

• Familiarity with supporting processes such as fabrication, forming, assembly, laser processing, and paint or powder coating.

• Self-motivated, coachable, and eager to grow with a company building its U.S. manufacturing presence from the ground up.

• Interest in future advancement into lead, supervisor, or leadership roles as the operation scales.

• Comfort working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a brand-new, clean, and organized manufacturing facility in Charlotte that is in startup mode with a small, close-knit team currently onsite. The operation uses new equipment and continues to invest significantly in growth, with exterior branding and signage still being completed as the facility ramps up. The plant manufactures large-scale generator enclosures and industrial power systems for data center infrastructure, with future plans to produce emissions-control and DEF exhaust management systems for backup power applications. Employees are exposed to the full production flow, including raw material receiving of large carbon steel sheets, fabrication and forming with press brakes and lasers, wash bay and surface preparation, assembly of subassemblies and enclosure sections, MIG welding on structural components and frames, laser processing for precision cutting, paint and powder coat applications, and final inspection and shipping. Leadership is highly visible and works closely with production employees on the shop floor. The operation is currently in early ramp-up with plans to grow headcount, launch additional shifts, and expand skilled trades and support functions. The typical shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in a hands-on, industrial manufacturing environment where appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are used.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
