Key responsibilities of the Pharmacist include:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law
- Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients
- Advise patients about medicines, including usage and reactions
- Provide consultation on medication storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
- Offer patient services like smoking cessation, blood pressure and cholesterol management
- Educate on handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
- Supervise pharmacy staff members
- Maintain inventory on pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identify and communicate patient drug-related problems to healthcare practitioners
Requirements of the Pharmacist include:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
