RN - Progressive Care Unit - CNRVMC - Nights

Job Overview RN – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) – Night shift, 7pm‑7am with rotating weekends and holidays. Employment status: Full time. Facility: 2900 Lamb Cir, Christiansburg, VA. Sign‑on bonus available: $15K for experienced RNs, $10K for new‑grad RNs. Responsibilities Deliver the best in patient care, customer service, respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy toward patients, families, and colleagues. Coordinate and provide individualized care for patients of all ages, acting as the primary nurse on the unit. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes. Complete age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments, documentation, and care planning. Collaborate with the health‑care team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and revise interdisciplinary care plans. Accurately administer and document treatments and medications using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Identify and address patient and family educational needs, incorporating them into the care plan. Contribute to performance‑improvement activities and continually seek ways to reduce length of stay and improve outcomes. Advocate for patient rights and provide psychological, social, and cultural support. Demonstrate clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances and train new staff as needed. Manage resources, prioritize care, and modify the environment to meet patient needs. Resolve patient and personnel situations using problem‑solving methods and provide constructive feedback to staff. Participate in unit, hospital, and system activities to facilitate staff input and decision‑making. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program or eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam. Current Virginia RN licensure or eligibility to obtain it. USA‑trained AHA BLS‑HCP required; may need to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP depending on unit. Computer skills required for electronic medical record system (EPIC).
