Special Procedures Technologist

The following qualifications are preferred for the role:

• Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or an equivalent field
• Three years of technical experience
• Experience as a Special Procedures Technologist

Licenses/Certifications:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification: Preferred
• Radiologic Technologist (RT) certification in the state of practice: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) certification: Required
• Fluoroscopy (FLUORO) certification: Required
• Prevention and Management of Violent Behavior (PVMB) certification or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI): Required

The Special Procedures Technologist will be responsible for the following:

• Operating diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system, particularly during cardiac catheterization.
• Positioning and immobilizing patients, utilizing specific protocols to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Assisting physicians with specialized procedures and entering technical parameters into the imaging system as per protocols.
• Starting automatic injections of contrast media and activating imaging systems for procedure documentation.
• Monitoring patient responses and alerting physicians to any changes during imaging and procedures.
• Providing patients with clear explanations of procedures and discharge instructions.
• Controlling environmental factors such as temperature and electrical safety to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assisting in interventional procedures to address cardiovascular issues, such as removing plaque or blockages.
• Maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with program standards.
• Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
