About the Role ESPN Creative Studio is a unit within the Content division of ESPN and serves as the go-to destination to conceptualise, develop and execute content creation across all domestic and international ESPN distribution platforms. The Video Editor applies advanced non-linear editing skill in a fast-paced sport news environment and collaborates effectively across the various Edit areas and partner groups to support the creative process. The role also helps develop personnel, projects and individual skillsets that propel Edit and Creative Studio into the future. The schedule for this position includes nights and weekends. Key Responsibilities Assemble and create content using non-linear editing software in a fast-paced sport news environment, demonstrating advanced editing skill. Ensure all created content meets ESPN's high standards for video and audio quality, conducting quality control measurement and corrective action steps to ensure and enhance video content. Adhere to the organisation's established media organisation and naming conventions. Maintain strong knowledge of editing workflow, software and facility layout in assigned areas. Establish strong relationships with partners and gain knowledge of their impact and specific integration with Creative Studio, providing strong service to all collaborative partners. Train less experienced editors on editing workflows and software, and write and provide feedback on training initiatives and project contributions. Keep updated on industry technology, help establish new workflows to create accurate and effective results on specific or future assignments, and train on and learn new techniques and software platforms that align with industry needs and trends. Identify and quickly escape issues, recommend solutions, and resolve operational errors and equipment failures. Provide strong multi-directional communication to ensure the success of assignments and accomplishments, and self-initiate creative projects and pitch ideas towards departmental objectives. Provide file-based ingest support, drawing on a strong understanding of multiple file-based formats. Required Experience & Qualifications A minimum of 4 years of editing or related experience. Advanced understanding of non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere, Avid, Grass Valley Edius or Qube, etc.). Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.). Skilled in media transfer workflows (ingest/publish/export). Strong understanding of audio and video broadcast quality control (video scopes, audio levels, CALM Act compliance, etc.). Ability to collaborate and work in a quick turn-around sport newsroom environment. Good computer background (Microsoft Office, Slack, Workfront, etc.). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effective ability to perform well under pressure, high demand, strict timelines and/or live conditions with little supervision. Advanced organisational, creative, communication and planning skills required for team collaborative success. Strong understanding of multiple file-based formats. Demonstrated skill and attitude to train less experienced editors on editing workflows and software. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. Flexibility to work overtime and alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Skills In-depth background in non-linear editing in an area including Adobe (Premiere, AE, Audition, etc.), Grass Valley, Edius, etc. Strong understanding of linear, non-linear and social media production workflows. Knowledge of PC or Mac operating system. Bilingual (written and spoken) in both English and Spanish. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or related field. Vocational school education or related experience. Salary The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors.
