Geomatics Intern – Fall 2026 Job Locations: US-MA-Watertown Job ID: 2026-6121 | Category: Intern/Co‑op | Type: Temporary Full‑Time | Number of Openings: 1 Overview VHB's Watertown, MA office is seeking a Geomatics Intern to join our growing team. Responsibilities Perform various land surveying tasks under the direction of more senior Land Surveyors, including operation, transport and setup of total stations (manual and robotic), data collectors, GPS, and other surveying equipment. Reconnaissance and recovery of land surveying markers through use of hand tools, brush cutting, and digging. Transport and navigate surveying equipment in difficult terrain, environments, and wooded areas. Perform construction stakeout of proposed improvements, including installation of stakes using sledgehammers and hand tools. Maintain proper care of all survey equipment. Require a valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles, including large cargo vans. Some overnight travel may be required from time to time due to workshare opportunities with other VHB offices. Document all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection. Land surveying including boundary, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, existing conditions & topographic survey, construction layout, and utility surveys. Skills and Attributes Ability to learn the proper use of GPS equipment and manual or robotic instruments; ability to learn mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry. Understand the basics of boundary survey, topographic, construction, and utility surveys. Able to think critically. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients. Qualifications Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Salary and Benefits Hiring salary range: $19/hr – $30/hr. Final agreed‑upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, and experience. VHB does not provide housing for internships.
