About the Role

The Company is seeking a Head of Insurance Accounting to lead and oversee all aspects of insurance operations accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, driving innovation in financial reporting, and maintaining a robust internal control environment. Key duties include leading premium accounting, claims reserves, and reinsurance settlements, as well as serving as the primary resource for technical accounting research and compliance with Statutory Accounting Principles. The role also involves coordinating consolidated financial reporting, managing a dedicated finance team, and engaging with state insurance departments for financial examinations and regulatory responses. Applicants for the Head of Insurance Accounting position at the company must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a CPA certification preferred. A minimum of 10 years' experience in the life insurance industry, particularly with a multi-entity insurance structure, is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Statutory Accounting Principles and GAAP life insurance accounting principles, as well as proficiency in researching SAP accounting issues. Experience in managing teams, processes, and projects in a multi-entity environment, and knowledge of general ledger systems, internal controls, and insurance accounting systems are essential. The role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate across geographically dispersed teams, and a proven track record of working with actuarial teams on reserve development and policy liability movements.
