Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Kitchen Chef/Staff for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. Key duties include: Assist campers in emergencies (fire, evacuation, illness or injury) and maintain constant supervision. Operate commercial‑grade kitchen equipment safely. Operate dishwasher and maintain appropriate water temperature. Determine cleanliness of dishes, food contact surfaces, and kitchen area; assess condition of food. Identify and respond to environmental and other hazards, read prescriptions and health forms. Lift, unload, and move food and supplies; lift dishes to appropriate storage locations. Communicate effectively with staff and campers. Overview The New Jersey 4‑H Camp is located within Stokes State Forest in Branchville, NJ. During the 8‑week summer camp season, June 22nd–August 16th, kitchen staff provide daily meals for 175 campers and 50 staff members residing at the L.G. Cook 4‑H Youth Center for Outdoor Education. Kitchen staff are responsible for all elements of operating a clean, effective, and friendly kitchen in our rustic residential environment. The goal is to serve consistent meals that appeal to our youth‑aged population, providing sustenance and comfort. The menu will accommodate dietary needs and allergy restrictions. Kitchen staff will guide counselor‑level and volunteer kitchen assistants, and engage in active problem solving to overcome challenges, keep meals on schedule, and ensure that the 4‑H Camp population stays happy, healthy, and fed.
