Salary: $53,972.96


Salary Range: $53,972.96 - $74,570.10


Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Job Duties:

This is semi-skilled work involving routine janitorial and maintenance duties in the Romeoville Recreation Center. Work is performed under the supervision of the Superintendent of Parks & Facility Maintenance, and in accordance with prescribed procedures. Work is reviewed through observation and results.

• Performs routine maintenance duties involving sweeping, moping, vacuuming, dusting, waxing, and emptying trash containers
• Shovels sidewalks and cleans parking areas
• Clean windows
• Cleans, strips, waxes, and buffs floors
• Clean, mop and empty trash containers throughout facilities
• Clean office area on a routine basis
• Sanitizes washrooms, locker rooms, tables and chairs, drinking fountains, kitchen appliances and concession areas
• Assist set up and tear down room after meetings
• Making sure the gymnasiums, hallways, turf areas, party rooms and corridor are cleaned and presentable each day
• Fill and maintain soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towels
• Ability to do routine maintenance work when necessary on toilets, sinks and accessories
• Ability to do minor building repairs such as painting, light bulb replacement and drywall patching
• Use floor scrubber daily
• Complete daily checklists
• Coordinate and assist receiving janitorial supplies and chemical shipments to the facilities
• Maintain tools and equipment assigned to custodial staff
• Keep Superintendent of Parks & Facility Maintenance adequately informed at all times
• Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Village of Romeoville's safety program
• Attend all staff and in-service training meetings as required
• Perform other duties as required by the building custodian
• This position also will require work to assist with special events as needed

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities:

While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.

• Stores and maintains clothing, uniforms, and related materials
• Orders and stores cleaning supplies and equipment
• Performs related work as required

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

• Minimum two years' custodial experience preferred
• Must possess a valid high school diploma or GED
• Experience with cleaning agents and chemicals used in cleaning preferred
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment such as buffers, industrial sweepers and any other industrial type of equipment used in cleaning
• Janitor safety program training certificates preferred
