Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong background in emergency nursing, including the care of both adult and pediatric patients in a dynamic trauma setting.

Job Details

• Shift: Night shifts from 1845 to 0715, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend based on a four-week posted schedule.
• Patient Ratio: Experience with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5.
• Unit Orientation: 24 hours of orientation provided to ensure staff are prepared for the role.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering high-quality emergency care by:

• Assessing and interpreting patient conditions accurately.
• Implementing effective management of dysrhythmias and multi-system organ dysfunction.
• Performing blood product administration, central line management, and IV therapy, including continuous sedation and vasopressor administration.
• Caring for diverse conditions including traumatic injuries (spinal cord, brain), respiratory infections, and acute abdominal pain.
• Identifying and reporting instances of abuse and managing mental and behavioral health conditions.
• Supporting ventilated patients and administering emergency interventions during crisis situations.

Required Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC.
• Proficiency in general emergency department procedures, interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience with phlebotomy and starting IVs in critical situations.

Preferred Skills

• Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and Trauma Care (TCAR).

Unit Systems

• Familiarity with EPIC for medication and documentation.
• Utilization of Pyxis for medication management.
• Adopting SBAR protocol for effective communication.

The role is suitable for first-time travelers, as locals are not accepted unless residing more than 50 miles away from the facility.
