Automation Engineer

Job Description

Automation Engineer

Indianapolis area, on site

$130,000 to $160,000

Permanent, five days a week on the client's site

If you've been deployed onto a client site before, you'll know how it goes wrong.

You're the integrator's badge in somebody else's plant, nobody from your own company has called in four months, and you hear about your next assignment a fortnight before it starts.

This one isn't set up that way.

There are eight engineers from this business on the site in Indiana already, so you'd be walking into a team rather than landing on your own. Projects gets looked at every week, end dates and what each engineer wants next, so the assignment after this one gets planned instead of announced.

And the engineering managers run small teams and sit on the same client project as most of their people, so the person you report to is in the work.

I've worked with this business since late 2020 and almost every engineer I placed with them four and five years ago is still in their seat.

The work is funded.

The site is a large pharmaceutical manufacturer and they're building new manufacturing in other locations as well, so what you learn here doesn't stay in Indiana.

Healthcare is paid in full for you, your spouse and your kids. For most people that's worth more than the gap between the bottom and the top of the band. Then a 4% 401(k) match, three weeks vacation, five sick days plus enhanced maternity and paternity leave.

The work is product specific configuration and system integration on a live regulated process, working next to the client's own automation and operations people. Batch and sequence logic, simulation and troubleshooting, cGMP documentation and test protocols, and the change control that keeps the system compliant.

The platform is CODESYS, but you don't need direct experience as long as you have worked in automation in life sciences.

Relocation is covered. And if you don't want to commit a family to a state you've never lived in, they'll do a temporary relocation of about a year. Housing around Indianapolis sits well below Boston, the Bay Area or the Triangle, so the same base goes further.

Five days a week on the client's site.

If Indiana is a move you'd consider, get in touch today.
