Direct Counsel is seeking an Investment Funds Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded Am Law 100 firm in Charlotte, North Carolina . This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with 4-6 years of investment funds experience to join a nationally recognized Investment Funds practice representing private fund sponsors and investment managers across a broad range of alternative investment vehicles.

Direct Counsel is seeking an Investment Funds Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded Am Law 100 firm in Charlotte, North Carolina . This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with 4-6 years of investment funds experience to join a nationally recognized Investment Funds practice representing private fund sponsors and investment managers across a broad range of alternative investment vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on the formation, structuring, and operation of private investment funds.
- Draft and negotiate fund formation documents, organizational agreements, subscription materials, and related investment documentation.
- Counsel investment managers on regulatory, governance, and operational matters affecting investment funds.
- Represent sponsors of private equity funds, hedge funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds, hybrid funds, business development companies (BDCs), interval funds, closed-end funds, and other alternative investment vehicles.
- Work closely with clients on fund launches, capital raising activities, and ongoing fund operations.
- Collaborate with attorneys across tax, corporate, finance, and regulatory practices to provide comprehensive legal solutions.
- J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
- Active Bar membership in good standing.
- 4-6 years of experience in investment management and private fund formation.
- Experience representing private investment funds and investment managers is required.
- Strong drafting, analytical, negotiation, and client counseling skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in business development and client relationship management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
