Cardiologist, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Internal Medicine, Sports Cardiology Program (176224) Location: Stony Brook, New York Open Date: Jan 15, 2026 Deadline: Jul 16, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The Division of Cardiology at The Heart Institute, Stony Brook University Hospital seeks a Director or Associate Director of our Sports Cardiology Program. The successful academic clinical cardiologist will develop and lead a comprehensive sports cardiology service, providing a mix of outpatient and inpatient care for both competitive and recreational athletes. The role includes advanced imaging, multidisciplinary collaboration, and will incorporate echocardiography (including TTE/TEE), cardiac CT, MRI, and quality initiatives. Clinical effort, academic activities, and responsibilities are tailored to align with individual strengths, subspecialty interests, and career goals. Responsibilities Develop and lead sports cardiology services for athletes, active individuals, and complex cardiac cases. Provide outpatient and inpatient clinical care, including ECG, imaging, and management of cardiomyopathies and channelopathies. Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, primary care, neurology, and institutional athletic program heads. Teach and mentor fellows, residents, and students. Participate in quality initiatives, research, and academic pursuits as dictated by faculty rank and interests. Qualifications Required Qualifications MD, DO, or MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Board certified in Internal Medicine. Board eligible/board certified in Cardiovascular disease. Strong background or formal training in sports cardiology. Preferred Qualifications Certification in echocardiography, cardiac CT/MRI, or related areas. Special Notes Tenure/Non‑Tenure Track position. FLSA exempt; not eligible for overtime provisions. To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine. Anticipated Start Date As soon as possible.
