Senior Clinical Therapist – Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) – Diversion Program Banning, CA. Must hold a valid California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) issued by the California State Board of Behavioral Science. Role overview: The Senior Clinical Therapist will lead and oversee clinical services for the Incompetent to Stand Trial Diversion program. This involves stabilizing clients, preventing the need for competency restoration, supervising a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with courts, legal representatives, and correctional partners, and ensuring compliance with state regulations and documentation standards. Key responsibilities: Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary treatment team for program clients. Supervise unlicensed clinicians and provide clinical supervision within the scope of licensure. Monitor compliance with evidence‑based treatment models and conduct quality improvement chart audits. Develop and deliver training curriculum for clinical staff. Conduct individual, collateral, group, and family therapy sessions, including crisis intervention and involuntary hospitalization procedures (5150) and Tarasoff assessments. Serve as liaison among healthcare staff, community agencies, and other stakeholders. Assist consumers and families in understanding psychiatric conditions and treatment options. Prepare reports, correspondence, and maintain thorough documentation. Participate in local area committees and mental health conferences. Respond to emergencies within licensure scope. Work schedule: 9/80 schedule, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional travel requiring a valid California driver’s license. Minimum Qualifications Valid California license as LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW issued by the California State Board of Behavioral Science. At least two years of post‑licensure professional experience in a psychiatric or mental‑health setting providing direct client services. Experience in client assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and indirect services such as consultation and education to staff. Knowledge of mental health laws, regulations, and community resources. Ability to apply clinical therapy principles, analyze consumer behavior, provide crisis intervention, and supervise staff.
