Positions in this function are responsible for the management and manipulation of mostly structured data, with a focus on building business intelligence tools, conducting analysis to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, performing normalization operations and assuring data quality. Depending on the specific role and business line, example responsibilities in this function could include creating specifications to bring data into a common structure, creating product specifications and models, developing data solutions to support analyses, performing analysis, interpreting results, developing actionable insights and presenting recommendations for use across the company. Roles in this function could partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organization. Positions in this function work on predominantly descriptive and regression-based analytics and tend to leverage subject matter expert views in the design of their analytics and algorithms. This function is not intended for employees performing the following work: production of standard or self-service operational reporting, casual inference led (healthcare analytics) or data pattern recognition (data science) analysis; and/or image or unstructured data analysis using sophisticated theoretical frameworks. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities Work with Lines of Business to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions Inform and advise the clinical operation functions with empirical analyses that drive strategy with respect to key projects Communicate complex analyses to Leaders across the organization effectively without getting bogged down in the details of the analysis. Present a clear story of these analyses in effective Executive presentations Design and create data models for data stores, data marts, ETLs (Extract, Transform, and Load), and Data Integration jobs that acquire data from various sources Mine and analyze data from a host of data sources to drive optimization and improvement of product development and business strategies Focus on conducting analysis to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, performing normalization operations, and assuring data quality Develop actionable insights and present recommendations for use across the company Use business intelligence, data visualization, query, analytic, and statistical software to build and design solutions, perform analysis, and interpret data Continue to adapt to changes based on emergence of business priorities, new technologies, and alternative sources of data Self-motivated and demonstrates an innate ability to absorb new concepts, technical frameworks, programming paradigms while employing them creatively to solve complex analytical problems Develop and manage project plans for delivery of large scale projects against timelines You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications 5+ years of data analysis experience and report development Experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics or related field Proficiency in programming languages or data/analytical tools to extract and analyze data (e.g., SQL, SAS, Snowflake, Python, R, AWS, Tableau, Power BI) Proven solid presentation and communication skills Proven interpersonal and relationship skills necessary to work with an integrated team of customers, product managers, project managers, developers, analysts, and quality engineers All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
