Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute is seeking a Registration Specialist who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the reception area including greeting patients and visitors, registration, check-in and checkout, answering questions, and providing direction as appropriate. (Healthcare experience NOT required)Ability to work in a patient-oriented team environmentAbility to greet patients with a warm, energetic, and friendly disposition, and has an efficient work ethicKey ResponsibilitiesPrint and review the provider's schedule dailyMaintain general tidiness of the waiting areasVerify patient insurance and demographics at each appointmentScan insurance cards and valid photo ID into the EMRSchedule follow-up appointments for patientsCollect co-pays, surgery deposits and account balances from patients when applicableCoordinate patient care regarding pre-operative and post-operative needs, i.e. crutch training, braces, and DME applicationScan checks into LBJI banking systemScan End of Day paperwork; DME/ABN paperwork; Registration Payment Worksheets into appropriate e-folders or deliver paperwork to the appropriate area of the buildingMinimum EducationHigh School Diploma or the equivalentPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts. Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients and with testing sites and surgery departments. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
