Research Technician I — Molecular & Behavioral Neuroscience

Position Summary Our group is interested in understanding mechanisms underlying how visceral organ function is regulated in the brain and how it influences emotional wellbeing. We utilize scRNA‑ATACseq, molecular and neuroanatomical tools to obtain a comprehensive understanding of how the brain interprets, adapts, and responds to signals from the peripheral organs during normal and pathological states and how it shapes our emotions. Scheduled Hours: 40 per week. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an applicant to obtain training in state‑of‑the‑art experimental techniques and broad scientific tools applied in molecular and systems neuroscience. Candidates should be motivated, meticulous, and passionate about research in our group. They should also be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and have basic troubleshooting skills and an ability to maintain and organize records. A willingness to take on new challenges and learn new skills is fundamental. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Assist the investigator or higher‑level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment. Assist with experiments using behavioral, genetic, molecular and surgical approaches, such as mouse behavioral tests, surgeries, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy. Assist with mouse colony management and genotyping. Maintain files on research and assist with data entry. Assist with general lab maintenance and cleaning. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. Education Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or a combination of education and/or experience.
