The Medical Laboratory Scientist I performs specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of waived and non‑waived test results under general supervision. Essential Functions Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and record‑keeping. Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are processed like patient samples. Adhere to quality control policies; document all quality control activities, calibrations, and maintenance. Apply corrective action policies when test systems fall outside acceptable performance limits. Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting; notify supervisors, consultants, or director as required. Document all corrective actions taken for test system deviations. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or Laboratory Sciences required. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted. Licenses and Credentials: Proven eligibility for Medical Technologist (ASCP) – American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (preferred). Experience: 1–2 years laboratory experience required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic understanding of laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and analytic techniques. Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Attention to detail and adherence to written protocols; communication with supervisors when issues arise. Team‑member capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills. Professional communication with physicians, hospital personnel, employees, and patients.
