The Director of Clinical Informatics provides strategic and operational leadership for the effective use of clinical information systems across the organization. This position serves as a key liaison between clinical operations, physicians, nursing, quality, information technology, revenue cycle, and other operational teams to ensure technology supports safe, efficient, standardized, and patient-centered care.

The Director leads clinical informatics strategy, clinical workflow design and optimization, EMR implementation and enhancement, clinical decision support, adoption, and ongoing system optimization. The position ensures technology solutions align with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, evidence-based practice, patient safety, quality outcomes, and the needs of clinicians at the point of care. The Director serves as a clinical voice in technology decisions and translates clinical and operational needs into effective technology-enabled solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Informatics Leadership

• Develop and execute the organization's clinical informatics strategy in alignment with clinical, operational, quality, and technology priorities.
• Serve as the primary bridge between clinical operations and Information Technology for clinical information systems.
• Represent nursing, physicians, ancillary departments, and other clinical users in system design and technology decisions.
• Establish governance processes for clinical system requests, enhancements, standardization, and prioritization.
• Promote systemwide standardization while appropriately addressing unique regulatory, operational, and clinical needs of individual hospitals.
• Provide leadership for clinical informatics committees, workgroups, and governance structures.

EMR Implementation and Optimization

• Provide clinical leadership for EMR implementations, conversions, upgrades, optimization initiatives, and new technology deployments.
• Lead clinical workflow assessment and redesign to ensure technology supports efficient and safe care delivery.
• Partner with clinical leaders and IT teams in the design, validation, testing, implementation, and optimization of clinical workflows.
• Evaluate opportunities to reduce unnecessary documentation, clicks, alerts, and workflow variation.
• Identify opportunities to improve clinician efficiency and reduce documentation burden.
• Facilitate development and standardization of order sets, documentation templates, clinical pathways, alerts, and clinical decision-support tools.
• Ensure clinical workflows appropriately integrate nursing, physician, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, case management, therapy, and other clinical disciplines.

Clinical Transformation and Workflow Optimization

• Analyze current-state workflows and lead development of standardized future-state clinical processes.
• Identify technology-enabled opportunities to improve clinical efficiency, patient throughput, care coordination, and patient outcomes.
• Partner with hospital and system leaders to identify workflow barriers and implement sustainable solutions.
• Evaluate the impact of technology changes on frontline clinical operations before implementation.
• Lead post-implementation optimization and workflow improvement initiatives.

Data, Analytics and Clinical Intelligence

• Partner with analytics and operational leaders to ensure clinical data is meaningful, reliable, and actionable.
• Support development of dashboards and clinical performance tools for frontline clinicians and leaders.
• Promote effective use of clinical data to identify variation, improve outcomes, and support operational decision-making.
• Assist in defining clinical data requirements and validating the clinical integrity of reports and dashboards.
• Identify opportunities to leverage predictive analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies to improve clinical care and operational performance.

Physician and Clinician Engagement

• Build strong relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leaders, and frontline clinicians.
• Establish mechanisms for obtaining clinician feedback regarding clinical systems and workflows.
• Partner with physician and nursing champions during implementation and optimization initiatives.
• Promote clinician adoption through engagement, communication, education, and effective change management.
• Serve as an escalation point for significant clinical workflow and usability concerns.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Health Information Technology, or related clinical field required.
• Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Understanding of healthcare
