Job Description

In this hands-on role, you lead the operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex test infrastructure, integrating mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems to support product testing and validation. You collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, mentor junior technicians, and contribute to continuous improvements in processes, equipment, and test methods within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

• Lead the operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of test infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems such as pumps, valves, compressed air systems, motors, actuators, and related equipment.
• Fabricate and integrate complex test articles, equipment, and assemblies, including fluid panels, welded structures, wire harnesses, electrical cabinets, PLCs, and circuit breaker panels.
• Support the design and build of test stands and test infrastructure, documenting processes and recommending system-level improvements to enhance reliability and performance.
• Operate proprietary equipment and systems to support product testing, validation, and data collection for large-scale robotic printing systems.
• Work cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams to collect test data, prepare reports, and recommend design changes or system upgrades based on findings.
• Perform preventive maintenance on test infrastructure and coordinate repairs to ensure high levels of system uptime and reliability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on testing methods, fabrication processes, and test infrastructure design.
• Mentor and coach junior assembly technicians, promoting adherence to safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical systems, including wiring, control panels, and mechanical assemblies, using appropriate tools and diagnostic software.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to guide assembly, integration, and troubleshooting activities.
• Use electrical testing tools such as multimeters and voltmeters to diagnose issues and verify system performance.
• Support the development and refinement of manufacturing assembly work instructions for hardware and electrical systems, where applicable.
• Work extended hours, including after-hours and weekends, as part of a six-day work week to meet project timelines and production goals.
• Perform physically demanding tasks such as working while standing, kneeling, or on ladders, and lifting heavy components as needed.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in electromechanical builds, rebuilds, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation, electrical theory, robotics, and control systems.
• Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems, including wire harnesses and control panels.
• Proficiency working with 120-480 volt electrical systems and three-phase motors.
• Knowledge of instrumentation within industrial control panels and related control hardware.
• Skilled in wiring, electrical and mechanical repair, and system-level debugging.
• Experience using electrical testing tools such as multimeters and voltmeters.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings accurately.
• Experience with mechanical systems including pumps, motors, gears, air compressors, pressure vessels, and hydraulics.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, and the use of power tools.
• Experience with software tools for control system diagnostics, including PLC and HMI platforms.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime hours, including after-hours and weekends, with an expectation of a six-day work week.
• Ability to work while standing, kneeling, or on ladders and to lift 75+ pounds.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications for documentation, reporting, and communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in manufacturing, start-up, or research and development (R&D) environments.
• Experience with high-current, high-voltage, or high-amperage wiring systems.
• Associate's degree in mechanical technology, mechatronics, electronics technology, or a related technical field.
• Ability to write, refine, and improve manufacturing assembly work instructions for hardware and electrical systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Comfort working in a dynamic, ever-changing environment and contributing to new process roll-outs and large-scale solutions.

Work Environment
You work in a climate-controlled assembly shop and corporate office environment that supports both hands-on technical work and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with required overtime after hours and on weekends, typically resulting in a six-day work week. The atmosphere is challenging, exciting, and fast-paced, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and innovation. You can expect to use a variety of electrical and mechanical tools, test equipment, PLC/HMI diagnostic software, and power tools while performing standing, kneeling, and ladder-based tasks and lifting heavy components. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
