Teleion is looking for a Sr. Digital Copywriter to join our team! Successful candidates will have strong digital copywriting experience and can work cross-functionally with our design, marketing, and product stakeholders to deliver polished, on-brand content.

Senior Digital Copywriter – Copy Lead (SEO/SEM, Banking)

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role leads an overhaul of copywriting across digital experiences, focused on web, app, and digital marketing surfaces (not print). The goal is copy that feels vibrant, speaks to a broad audience of all ages, and matches brand storytelling and expectations, built specifically for digital surfaces. This is a senior, hands-on role for a copywriter who has led copy for a banking or financial services brand. The right person thinks about SEO/SEM performance and layout/placement as part of the writing process itself, not as an afterthought. They set the standard other writers follow and are comfortable owning copy sprint over sprint in an agile delivery model.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write, revise, and own copy across digital experiences (web, app, digital marketing surfaces), not print collateral.
• Own copy strategy for assigned product lines or channels, including the SEO content plan and paid messaging approach, not just individual pages.
• Apply SEO/SEM best practices to copywriting, not just brand voice and tone.
• Account for how placement, layout, and sizing affect how copy performs online, adapting writing accordingly.
• Define content guidance for reusable components (length, hierarchy, truncation) in partnership with design.
• Deliver tone that works for a broad, all-ages audience while staying true to brand storytelling, and help define the voice and tone guidance other writers follow.
• Review, mentor, and raise the quality of other writers’ copy.
• Partner with legal and compliance as a senior collaborator. Negotiate wording to protect clarity and brand voice, and build reusable assets such as pre-approved claims and disclosure patterns.
• Plan and interpret copy tests (A/B and variant testing) and present results and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Work within an agile delivery model: size and prioritize copy work, deliver, and remediate based on feedback, sprint over sprint.
• Perform tasks as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must-have: Financial services background: banking, credit union, credit card, lending/mortgage, or fintech copy that went through legal/compliance review.
• 10+ years of digital copywriting, including recent (within the last 3 years) Lead, Principal, Associate Creative Director, or Copy Lead scope.
• Strong digital copywriting portfolio with demonstrated SEO/SEM copywriting skill in the banking industry.
• Experience writing for how content performs across placement, layout, and sizing on digital surfaces.
• Comfortable in an agile/sprint-based delivery environment with iterative feedback and remediation cycles.
• Versatile tone: able to write for a wide age range while staying on-brand.
• Hands-on SEO copywriting skill: keyword-informed page and header structure, meta titles/descriptions, and internal-linking-aware writing. Also experience owning an SEO content plan with measurable results.
• SEM/paid ad copy experience: writing and iterating on headlines, descriptions, and CTAs for search/paid social. This includes designing A/B test plans or messaging matrices and tying copy to results (CTR, CPA, conversions).
• Track record of reviewing and mentoring other writers and setting copy standards (style guide, voice and tone, or component content guidelines).
• UX writing/microcopy sensibility: comfortable writing buttons, form fields, error states, and short-form in-product copy.
• Able to read and act on performance data (CTR, conversion, engagement) to inform revisions and recommend next steps to stakeholders.
• Plain-language and accessibility awareness (WCAG-conscious writing).
• Comfortable writing within a regulated environment: able to work with legal/compliance review cycles and adjust copy to required disclosures without losing brand voice.
• Working familiarity with a CMS (ideally Optimizely or a comparable platform) and standard SEO tooling (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console).
• A portfolio that specifically demonstrates digital/SEO copywriting, not solely brand or print work, is required to be considered.

PREFERRED

• Running copy experiments in Optimizely or a comparable CMS/experimentation platform.
• Presenting copy strategy and performance to director- and VP-level stakeholders.
• Building or contributing to content guidelines for a design system.
