The SpaceX Supply Chain Department is a critical player in our operations. To capitalize on SpaceX’s technological and market changing successes, our team will be part of managing an agile yet robust supply chain that will enable a competitive advantage for the company. The functions within the department include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics and inventory. SpaceX Supply Chain will play a key role in enabling SpaceX to meet these ambitious growth targets and greatly contribute in making us a multi-planetary species. This individual will support construction projects and capital purchases for the construction and facilities organizations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage a team of 5-10 buyers who are responsible for the purchase of all goods and services necessary for the construction of future buildings and build-out of facilities across Starlink sites.Work directly with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive contract management process that ensures a successful project execution cycleCreate sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department including, but not limited to, payment terms, cash targets, and cost savingsDevelop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services that support business unit requirements to maintain continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expendituresIdentify and execute cost reduction projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and project updatesPerform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categoriesCollaborate with stakeholders to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure the appropriate criteria such as delivery of business results, cost reduction, quality, and timeliness of deliveryConduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for assigned categoriesCreate contract documents in collaboration with the legal departmentManage contracts to ensure the supplier's performance meets contract obligationsUnderstand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creative solutionsMaximize value and cost savings benefits while lowering risk through strategic negotiationsIdentify and drive year over year cost optimization through reducing usage and eliminating waste within our operationsEstablish preferred suppliers for assigned categoriesCreate and implement management programs to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply basePlace purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categoriesDevelop and lead efforts to reduce number of transactions and for assigned categories BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:EngineeringPurchasing/Supply Chain Contract negotiationMaterial or production planningOperations or supply chain managementMaster production schedulingConstruction, facilities, or industrial plant management PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Strong technical background to speak the language of engineers and strong business background to deal with contracts and negotiationsConstruction project management experience and/or construction cost estimate experienceFamiliarity or experience in purchasing or similar procurement related experienceExperience in industrial engineering, construction management, and/or facilities managementStrong budget tracking and cost analytical skillsExtensive project management and organizational skillsExperience managing large scale industrial and commercial construction projectsStrong contract negotiation and document management skillsRemarkable problem-solving skills with a bias for speedQuick learner and ability to prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needsStrong technical knowledge and skills in current technologies and applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, SQL, PowerBI, etc.)ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work extended hours and some nights and weekends when neededAbility to travel and communicate outside of work hours - up to 30% travel may be required, including international travelValid driver’s licenseThis position is based in Bastrop, TX and requires being onsite ITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
