Position Description
Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician II performs general cleaning and routine maintenance of City-owned buildings, park grounds, recreation facilities including snow removal duties.

Working days for this position are Tuesday through Saturday.

Scope of Impact:
The Maintenance Technician II- Parks performs in accordance with established policies and procedures. The duties and responsibilities of this job are performed with latitude for independent judgement in accordance with Department and City policies, Federal, State and Local regulations and are based on detailed knowledge of Department operations. Work is subject to periodic review by the supervisor, who provides input on, and approval of, recommendations, and discusses assignments, priorities, and work. The Park Maintenance Technician II supervises temporary seasonal workers assigned to assist with the work. Work can affect the safety and appearance of parks and facilities.

Essential Functions

• Performs general cleaning of parks and facilities as assigned using a variety of equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and carpet cleaners.
  • Collects waste and recyclables for disposal;
  • Cleans and shampoos carpets
  • Ensures restrooms are sanitized and supplies are stocked;
  • Mops floors and cleans walls, desk counters, glass, and all hard surfaces;
  • Sweeps and shovels outside entrances,
  • Replaces and properly disposes of light bulbs and tubes;
  • Responds to immediate needs for cleaning;
  • Cleans and sanitizes spills, biohazard waste.
  • Orders and stocks custodial supplies, paper, and kitchen supplies.
• • Supports Park facility rental reservations and events
    • Performs the setup, scheduling and preparation for public and private rentals
    • Works collaboratively with the Administrative Coordinator to schedule rentals
    • Utilizes mobile technology to review rental schedule
    • Ensures rental facilities are appropriately setup and cleaned prior to public use
  • Performs various maintenance duties using light hand tools, including snow removal at assigned locations.
    • Maintains cleaning equipment
    • Troubleshoot plumbing and other mechanical issues.
    • Repair door and lock issues.
    • Painting and staining.
    • Utilizes work order system and submitting tickets.
  • Provides on-site support during after-hours and weekend contractor work, ensuring building access, observing work in progress, and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Acts as a liaison to other vendors and users of building during off-hours.
  • Assists setup for rentals, gatherings, and elections.
  • Communicates courteously and professionally and maintains working relationships with others in carrying out job functions; conveys basic information to the public when approached with questions.
  • Performs all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and with an ongoing awareness of safety practices; wears proper protective equipment when policy requires or conditions indicate a need exists and utilizes proper body mechanics and ergonomics while performing work.
  • Performs other duties and activities as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

The job requires a high school diploma, or equivalent. The job requires the ability to read instructions, calculate proportions, and communicate verbally with the public or City employees. The employee must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Desired Qualifications:

One or more years of custodial experience and experience working with the public are preferred.

• Physical and Mental Requirements:
  Work is performed at City facilities. The job requires attention to conditions of public and work areas. Activities include intermittent lifting and moving heavy furniture and equipment, climbing ladders, frequent walking, constant bending, stooping, and reaching; spends majority of time on feet. Daily push-pull of walk-behind mowers, snow removal equipment. There is intermittent lifting or moving up to 50 pounds of materials such as tables, bags of salt, rugs, equipment, tools, supplies, etc. Heavier lifts are assisted or team lifts. Ability to shovel snow in winter.
  Position contingent upon background check, medical exams and drug testing.
  Working Conditions :
  Typical work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday daytime. Some extended day and evening in emergency situations due to weather events. Most work is performed indoors. In the winter there is intermittent exposure to cold or slippery conditions due to the need to salt and shovel around entry and exit doors. The incumbent is routinely exposed to dust, chemicals, biohazards, unpleasant odors and dirt.

Vacation/Sick Leave/Holidays:
