Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Client Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support Must-Have: Stroke experience and NIHSS preferred Ability to precept and possibly work in a virtual room Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and upon discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. This role also includes interaction with stroke, ortho, and spine patients. We are a comprehensive stroke center with patient ratios of 3:1 for stroke patients and 5:1 for all other patients. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is essential. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is required. Maintaining good working relationships with other employees is important. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is expected. Some computer skills are required. An Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. A Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing is preferred. Preferred certifications or licensure are not required for this position.
