Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Summary We seek a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to provide comprehensive laboratory testing and analysis across various units within a short-term acute care and Level IV trauma center environment. The role involves performing clinical laboratory procedures, including blood bank testing, to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The Medical Laboratory Scientist will float between units as needed, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely lab results. Strong competency in generalist laboratory functions and blood bank experience are essential. Night shift availability is preferred after training and demonstrated ability to work independently. Responsibilities Perform clinical laboratory tests and procedures across multiple hospital units. Conduct blood bank testing and related transfusion services. Ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results through quality control and quality assurance measures. Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical issues. Adhere to safety and compliance standards in all laboratory activities. Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret and communicate test results. Float between units to provide flexible laboratory support as staffing needs dictate. Complete documentation and data entry accurately in the electronic medical record system. Required Skills & Certifications Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent. Experience as a generalist in clinical laboratory testing. Blood bank experience is mandatory. Ability to work independently and demonstrate competency in night shift operations. Strong attention to detail and adherence to laboratory protocols. Preferred Skills & Certifications Experience working in a short-term acute care or trauma center setting. Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system. Previous experience with rotating weekend shifts. Special Considerations On-call availability as needed. Rotating weekend shifts required after full training. Night shift availability preferred only after demonstrated competency and ability to work alone. Must be able to float between units to cover staffing shortages. 48-hour workweek not approved. Scheduling Shift assignments include mid shifts, evenings, and rotating weekends. No block schedules required. Weekend work is rotating and occurs after full training. #J-18808-Ljbffr
