Accounting Technician

Accounting TechnicianThe Accounting Technician performs a variety of clerical duties pertaining to the preparation and maintenance of journals, subsidiary ledgers (AP, AR, Payroll, or GL), schedules and recapitulations reflecting various accounting transactions. Receives, analyzes, processes and classifies accounting documents. Reviews documents for validity, budget and expenditure limitation, completeness and correctness of accounting data. Accurately records data into an automated accounting system Reconciles subsidiary accounts with the general ledger using double entry accounting procedures. Maintains required records and ledgers, prepares month-end accounting documents and financial reports, etc.Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on customer centricity, professionalism, and courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly and professional manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Requires the ability to work in an assigned shift with varying hours. Performs other related duties as assigned. Assists other departments as assigned.This position is designated as Mission Essential, and deemed necessary to ensure business continuity during contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather situations or other emergency situations to include closure of the facility. These mission essential functions are existing functions that enable the Global Business Services to continue to provide necessary, vital services during time of need and require civilian employees to telework in order to support the mission.
