Assistant Project ManagerSun Tribe EPC ("Sun Tribe") is Virginia's premier utility-scale solar design and build firm, specializing in sub-20MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities. Our construction efforts are focused throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland, and neighboring states. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the planning and execution of utility-scale solar construction projects. As a key member of the project delivery team, the APM provides both administrative and project management support to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with Sun Tribe's quality standards and core values. This role focuses on assigned tasks and defined scopes under the direction of the Project Manager. The APM works closely with Project Managers, construction teams, subcontractors, and other internal stakeholders. The role supports delivery of small-scale projects within Sun Tribe's project portfolio and is primarily located throughout Virginia and neighboring states, with an expectation of periodic travel to project sites.Principal ResponsibilitiesSupports Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing solar construction projects across all phases of deliverySupports and coordinates project workflows in Procore, including RFIs, submittals, transmittals, meeting minutes, and project documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Coordinates subcontractor deliverables, including pre-mobilization requirements, and tracks progress against project schedulesPrepares and distributes project reports, including weekly and monthly updates, ensuring stakeholders are informed of key milestones, risks, and project performanceAssists in managing the flow of RFIs and submittals between Sun Tribe, subcontractors, and project owners to support timely decision-makingSupports permitting efforts and material coordination, including development and tracking of Building, Electrical, Land Disturbance, DEQ, and VDOT permit applications and material delivery timelinesSupports tracking of project performance against established plans, identifies variances, and communicates risks or issues to the Project Manager and project teamMaintains accurate and organized project documentation, including owner-required reports and turnover packages, ensuring compliance with project requirements and readiness for project closeoutTracks and communicates safety observations and incidents, coordinating with appropriate project stakeholders to support timely resolutionCoordinates across internal teams and external partners, including construction teams, engineering, subcontractors, owners, and other project stakeholders, to support efficient project executionSupports Project Managers during major service subcontracting RFP processes, mechanical completion and substantial completion activities, and other project execution activities as assignedPerforms work with close guidance and regular feedback from the Project ManagerBasic Qualifications RequiredEducation required: High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related field preferred, or equivalent experienceUp to 3 years of experience in construction or project management, or related fieldCurrent, valid driver's license and eligibility for corporate vehicle insurance coverageSkills & Experience PreferredStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage time, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple projects and deadlinesProficiency in Procore and MS Project or similar construction management softwareExperience in construction or solar EPC environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across diverse stakeholder groupsSelf-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement, both individually and as part of a teamCollaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across cross functional teamsAlignment with Sun Tribe's core values: Community, Safety, Perpetual Improvement, Nature, Joy, and RespectCommitment to a culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality project deliveryWorking Conditions and Physical RequirementsSome evening and/or weekend work may be requiredWillingness to travel to project sites throughout Virginia and neighboring states as needed, typically no less than once per month depending on project assignment(s)Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretchingExposure to characteristic construction site hazardsWearing of standard personal protective equipment while on project sitesCompensation and Benefits The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 per year. The final compensation offered may vary based on factors including experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
