Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Family Medicine - Days

Job Summary Part‑time LPN; 20 hours weekly. The LPN job commences to integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family. This role assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. This role also provides direction, education, and begins to assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level. Responsibilities Deliver and accurately document direct, age‑specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care. Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions. Follow documented physician or licensed independent provider orders, standards, and practice guidelines such as treatments. Organize work to carry out assignment and maintain patient safety and quality of care. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire Licensure, certification or registration varies depending on the incumbent’s employment background and transitional assignment. LPN licensure in Virginia or eligible with AHA BLS Certification or equivalent. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment Current LPN Licensure in Virginia. Experience REQUIRED: Varies based on transitional duty assignment. PREFERRED: Experience as an LPN in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice. Education/Training REQUIRED: Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing. PREFERRED: None. Physical Requirements Includes use of assistance devices as appropriate. Lifting 50–100 lbs. Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking (distance), climbing steps/ladder, reaching overhead, extensive, repetitive. Other Requirements Independent action(s) required: Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders, standards, and practice guidelines such as treatments and organizes work to carry out assignment.
