Monitor Technician

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire a Monitor Technician for our Heart and Vascular Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. As a Monitor Technician, you will:

• Document rhythm on EKG flow sheet. Immediately report any change in cardiac rhythm to the nurse.
• Obtain strips on irregularities.
• Maintain charge requisitions on monitored patients.
• Make nursing personnel aware of need for replacement of patient electrodes and/or newly monitored patients to be connected.
• Maintain safe and effective operation of the Monitoring Console at all times.
• Ensure that paper loaders are full.
• Monitor assigned telemetry console.
• Obtain monitor strips at the start of each shift, interpret strip, put date and time on each strip, and place it on flow sheet.
• Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Provide a verbal report to relief persons and give a patient report to oncoming technicians.
• Verify and adjust alarm limits as established for the levels appropriate to the individual patient.
• Verify alarms are on at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications Include:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1-year experience with emergency situations and maintaining continuous strips of cardiac rhythms.
• At least 1-year acute clinical experience preferred
• Completion of the Monitor Technician Program within 6 months of hire
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Work Schedule:

• Employment Type: Full-time
• Hours per Week: 36 hours per week (three 12 hour shifts)
• Typical Daily Schedule: 7:00 M7:00 PM
• Shift Type: Day
• Weekend Requirements: Required, every other weekend rotation
• Holiday Requirements: Required to follow company holiday calendar
• On-Call: No
• Shift Differential Eligible: Yes

Pay Range:

$19.21 - $24.90

If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
