Community Living Instructor

Achievement House Inc. is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services that encourage and support individuals with disabilities, so that they may successfully achieve their personal and professional goals.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our  Community Living Services  (CLS) team! As part of this dynamic department, you will be working closely with individuals to help them achieve and maintain their independent living skills. Learn more about our organization and programs at

• Facilitate the acquisition, retention, and improvement of adaptive skill and behaviors
• Educate and develop Individual’s served on interaction and social skills within the community
• Teach and encourage the proper leisure activities, along with the use of leisure time
• Educate and enhance financial management skills
• Teach and improve Individual’s understanding of how to safeguard, enforce, and implement policies to guard against financial, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse or exploitation
• Provide training to the Individual as indicated on the ISP, to assure acquisition, retention and improvement of adaptive skills and behaviors as appropriate 

Skills and Abilities Required:

• Ability to train, motivate and challenge clients while establishing and maintaining a friendly relationship.
• Have the ability to maintain professionalism with clients, staff and willingness to work cooperatively in a team.
• We desire excellent spelling and grammar skills.
• Have basic knowledge of office procedures.
• Must be able to operate business machines, computer equipment, cellphones, and adaptive equipment used in agency services without difficulty
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License
• Must pass a background check

Pay Scale : $23.00/hr, Part Time, variable work schedule

• $250 hiring bonus (To be paid after 90 days and 180 days
• 3% contribution on AHI Simple IRA
