Patient Service Specialist

We are seeking a Patient Service Representative to join a busy healthcare team and serve as one of the first points of contact for patients. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can confidently balance face-to-face patient needs, phone calls, and computer-based responsibilities.

You will play an important role in creating a positive patient experience while supporting physicians and clinical staff with day-to-day administrative needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide a welcoming, professional experience at the front desk
• Check patients in and out and ensure registration information is accurate
• Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with appointment coordination
• Answer incoming phone calls and help patients with questions and requests
• Verify insurance information and assist with patient account information
• Update and document patient information and physician notes within the EMR system
• Assist with insurance-related processes, including verification and prior authorizations as needed
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team
• Manage multiple priorities at once, including patients at the front desk, incoming calls, and requests from physicians

What the Day Looks Like

This is a highly interactive position with a balanced mix of responsibilities:

• ~33% Patient Interaction: Check-in, check-out, registration, scheduling, and customer service
• ~33% Phone Support: Answering inbound calls and assisting patients with questions
• ~33% Computer/Administrative Work: EMR documentation, insurance processing, scheduling, and patient account updates

• Previous experience in a medical, healthcare, front desk, or customer-facing environment
• Comfortable working with computers and learning multiple software applications
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
• Professional communication skills, both in person and over the phone

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, organized, and comfortable being busy. You should enjoy interacting with patients and be able to provide excellent customer service even when managing multiple priorities at once.

Customer service is the #1 priority for this team. While healthcare experience is valuable, the ability to communicate professionally, stay organized, and make patients feel welcomed and supported is essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vienna, VA.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
