Customer Service Representative

Responsibilities Accurately post data (payments, adjustments) as needed. Communicate problems hindering workflow to management. Resolve patient billing and third‑party payer concerns. Interview and counsel patients for payment arrangements and/or charity assistance. Answer patient questions quickly, accurately, and courteously. Identify and screen Medicare charity within established guidelines. Rebill accounts as necessary. Work with patients to resolve account balances. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications One year experience in a healthcare setting. One year previous customer service experience. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of ICD‑9 and CPT coding. Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Act. Specialized coursework related to collections, medical field, or hospital business office. General knowledge of third‑party payers, collection laws, and collection procedures. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel). Excellent telephone communication skills. Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling. Visual acuity within normal range. Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly.
