Cardiac Telemetry Nurse

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. These are 28 bed cardiac telemetry units caring for all cardiac needs including post op care. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-6. The unit is also supported by PCTs and a Healthcare unit coordinator. Utilization of virtual sitter monitoring is available as well as monitor techs to monitor those on telemetry. This is a Level I trauma center serving a population of all ages. The nurses work together in teams and are supported by PCTs and a unit secretary. The job will be required to float to cardiac telemetry and med-surg departments. Travelers will be required to work up to 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period and holidays if the department has a need.
