Job Overview University of Cincinnati College of Medicine seeks a full‑time Research Associate for the Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory. The role primarily supports the Murine Research Team with animal handling, data management, and laboratory procedures. Essential Functions Contribute to collective team effort. Organize research results and data according to good laboratory management practices. Handling and restraining of murine models for basic colony maintenance, including general husbandry, sex determination, weaning, ear tagging, ear/tail snips for genotyping, oral gavage/intraperitoneal injection for drug delivery, bleeding (cheek stick), anesthesia and euthanasia, specimen processing (necropsy and tissue harvesting), and tail‑vein injections. Understand the murine models used in the laboratory, such as breeding strategies, transgene models, expected phenotypes, and general colony maintenance. Use software to track and maintain murine colonies. Possibly cross‑train with molecular biology techniques, including PCR‑based genotyping, preparing single‑cell suspensions from spleen and bone marrow, flow cytometry for monitoring tumor development, and general cell culture techniques. Required Education Bachelor's degree in a related field. Required Experience 5+ years of experience in research animal handling. Experience with specialized software programs is required. Physical Requirements / Work Environment Sitting – continuous. Repetitive hand motion, hearing, listening, talking, standing, walking, bending, stooping – often. Kneeling, squatting – seldom. Lifting – up to 20 pounds – often. Work occurs in a setting with noise that may require shouting to be heard, exposure to mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical currents, scaffolding, high places, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
