Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician provides high-level support to patients, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals by accurately processing prescriptions, maintaining patient information, and facilitating customer requests. This role ensures all activities comply with internal policies, pharmacy regulations, and applicable regulatory requirements while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the customer and patient database in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring data integrity and compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and pharmacy regulations.
• Analyze and report on data integrity and accuracy as needed to support quality and compliance initiatives.
• Process prescription requests by accurately inputting patient prescription and demographic information into relevant systems.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and healthcare providers, responding to diverse customer requests and questions with professionalism and empathy.
• Coordinate customer service orders in a timely and accurate manner by collaborating with cross-divisional teams and other internal partners.
• Act as a subject matter expert within the assigned function, providing guidance and support to staff, cross-divisional teams, and customers to resolve outstanding issues.
• Mentor and support other pharmacy technicians and team members as applicable, contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.
• Assist with various projects and initiatives assigned by the supervisor, contributing ideas and effort to improve processes and customer experience.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of management, patients, and healthcare providers to ensure clarity and alignment on prescription and service-related matters.
• Adapt to changing priorities, tasks, and client conditions while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and customer service.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the pharmacy operations and overall business objectives.

Essential Skills

• Active Illinois pharmacy technician license in good standing.
• 24 years of related experience in pharmacy, healthcare support, or a closely related field.
• Experience processing prescriptions and working with pharmacy or healthcare databases and computer systems.
• Previous call center or high-volume customer service experience, which may be from outside the healthcare industry.
• Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.
• Ability to meet current pharmacy technician regulatory requirements and maintain licensure in good standing.
• Customer-focused mindset with excellent customer service skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and client conditions.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cohesively within a team and collaborate across divisions.
• Leadership capabilities with the ability to influence diverse audiences through diplomacy and tact.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with all levels of management and healthcare professionals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree is desirable.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or the ability to successfully pass the PTCB examination.
• Active pharmacy technician certification is preferred.
• Retail pharmacy experience is a plus.
• Data entry experience with high accuracy and speed.
• Pharmacy technician certificate or formal pharmacy technician training is beneficial.
• Experience working in a hybrid office and remote environment.
• Interest in ongoing professional development, including support for taking the national certification exam.

Work Environment

This position is based in a hybrid work environment, combining time in a professional office setting in Lake Bluff, Illinois with remote work from home. Team members work in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remotely on other designated days. The standard working hours for this role are 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., supporting patients and healthcare providers during extended business hours. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, with frequent interaction across divisions and with patients and healthcare professionals. Employees use computers, pharmacy systems, and standard office software tools to manage prescriptions, data, and communications. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LAKE BLUFF, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
