Senior AccountantSalary Grade: Grade 12 ($50,772.80 - $78,956.80/year) - Type of position: Full-time - Minimum Hours: 40 Hrs./Week ExemptJob Summary: To perform and monitor daily accounting activity. To record entries, perform complex calculations, and maintain analyses for maintaining complete and accurate financial statements for assigned companies. To prepare and complete accurate financial statements for assigned companies.Essential Functions:Perform daily accounting activityResponsible for entering requisitions as assigned in Procurement systemOversee and maintain all proper accounting and guidance regarding DAV's relocation programUnderstand and own tax and regulatory accounting on behalf of all organizations. Including UBIT, Sales and Use Tax, and maintenance of tax exempt status of all organizationsWork directly with payroll service provider to ensure proper reporting and reconciliation of applicable functionsResponsible for analysis and coordination of internal controlsProcess and record tri-annual functions of the State Service PayoutEnsure accurate setup and maintenance of customers in Accounts Receivable modulePrepare and post transactions to the project module including review and analysis of projects for accuracyMaintain accurate reconciliations of payroll allocationsJournal entries and general ledgerPerform analysis and reconciliation of various assigned general ledger accountsMaintain system setup and maintenance of assigned system modulesPerform physical inventory procedures, as coordinated by Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant IIPerform review and upload of physical inventory adjustmentsResponsible for monthly and annual accruals across all assigned organizations and modulesRecord and reconcile transactions related to State Service Payout and Membership distributionsPerform voids, reissues, and stop payments within ERP systemReportingResponsible for reviewing financial statements for assigned companies for completeness and accuracyResponsible for reviewing audit reports for assigned companies for completeness and accuracyResponsible for reviewing Form 990 for assigned companies for completeness and accuracyEnsure consistency of reporting metrics for Form 990, Annual reports, and other identified sourcesUpdate Financial Charts and GraphsFile basic tax reports, as assignedPrepare and submit Charitable Gift Annuity annual reports for applicable statesResponsible for maintenance and accuracy of report-writing for assigned companiesMaintain documentation for all applicable areasPerform various projects as requestedCross-trained in duties, as assigned by Accounting Senior II or Accounting ManagementEssential Skills and Experience:Highly skilled in Excel and be able to independently carry out complex formulas, pivot tables and graphsAbility to effectively organize and prioritizeMeticulous attention to detail to produce quality work with exceptional accuracyStrong communications skills both written and oralBachelor's degree in accounting is preferredExperience with personal and applicable software packagesThorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principlesStrong analytical skills and attention to detail5+ years of accounting experienceDegree of Supervision: No Supervisory ResponsibilityPhysical Demands and Work Environment:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
