Position Details Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Duration: Ongoing Hours per week: 36 Shift: 12 hours (Night) Employment Type: Staff Up to $10,000 Sign on Bonus, based on relevant experience Job Summary In addition to the staff nurse role, the Clinical Coordinator assumes shift responsibilities for the care delivery team. The role involves coordinating the provision of care through assigning and scheduling staff, prioritizing, delegating, and evaluating patient care. It also includes assisting with process improvement activities, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to solve system and unit-based issues, and inputting into nursing staff performance appraisals. The Clinical Coordinator provides staff educational support, participates in unit and hospital activities, and demonstrates commitment to professional development. Responsibilities Functions as lead and resource person for nursing personnel; assists the clinical manager in planning and facilitating staff meetings and development. Collab‑orates with the manager in monitoring schedules to ensure adequate nurse‑patient ratios on each shift; reviews monthly schedules and communicates staff changes. Facilitates shared decision‑making among staff to improve unit throughput and length of stay. Co‑ordinates and provides in‑service programs to enhance staff competence based on identified needs. May assist the manager with interview, selection, retention, mentoring, and evaluation of staff. Participates in the development of policies, procedures, and standards for the department. Assists with department process improvement and peer reviews. Qualifications Associates Degree or Diploma required; BSN preferred. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan. One to two years of progressively responsible experience with evidence of increasing leadership abilities. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, delegate tasks, and facilitate processes. Minimum Level 6 of the Promoting Excellence Performance Criteria; internal candidates with Level 6 preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
