Worship Director

The Worship Director’s role is to focus our attention on God and acknowledge that He is worthy of praise, honor and glory (Revelation 5:12). He has made a way for us to stand in His presence because of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. May our praise of Him start with the position of our heart and affect our whole life. At Valley Evangelical Free Church, we believe that Christian worship is a holistic practice with both corporate and individual expressions that engage the believer’s heart, mind, body and soul. As a community of God’s people, it is a great privilege to come together in corporate praise and worship of our God. It is also an opportunity to display our unity and love for one another in Christ Jesus as we join with one voice to proclaim His glorious works, mercy and love. At Valley Free, our desire is that the hymns and songs being sung are faithful to both Scripture and sound doctrine, exalt God rather than man and are ultimately Christ-centered. The foundational principles of worship at Valley Free church are that worship be biblical, congregational and multigenerational. Job Responsibilities: Lead corporate worship on Sundays through song, Scripture reading and prayer Select songs that support the preaching and overall service theme in collaboration with the senior pastor Lead rehearsals and prepare worship teams for Sunday services Assist in planning and leading worship for special gatherings such as Easter, Christmas and other church-wide events Worship Team Scheduling and Directing Recruit, train, schedule and shepherd volunteers for worship services, including vocalists, instrumentalists and members of the tech team Prepare slides, music and other resources as needed for rehearsal and services Direct worship team rehearsal (Thursday evening), sound check (Sunday morning) and Sunday worship service Leading Sunday Worship Utilize Planning Center Services for worship planning and scheduling Maintain worship ministry resources and equipment Assist with worship-related budgeting as needed Qualifications: Mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills Ability to recruit, equip and develop volunteer leaders Musical competency and experience leading congregational worship Align fully with the mission, values and doctrine of the church Become a member of Valley Evangelical Free Church Model the life of a mature disciple of Jesus Maintain confidentiality and healthy boundaries Be visible, approachable and relational within the congregation Work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers Strong musical ability and worship leadership experience Comfortable leading from a platform through music, prayer and Scripture Organized and dependable Ability to recruit, train and encourage volunteers Familiarity with ProPresenter Basic skills with sound and lighting technology 2-3 samples of yourself making music and/or leading congregational worship Located in Chaska, Minnesota, Valley Evangelical Free Church is a passionate congregation whose focus is to bring glory to God by calling all people into an abundant life with Jesus Christ.
