Industrial Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician

Full-Time | Day Shift | Mishawaka, Indiana | Competitive Pay Based on Experience

Our client, an established multi-location company in the Michiana area, is seeking an experienced Industrial Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician .

This is a hands-on industrial-maintenance position for someone who can diagnose equipment failures, perform preventive maintenance, and complete mechanical repairs with limited supervision. General building maintenance is part of the position, but the primary responsibility is keeping industrial production equipment operating safely and reliably.

Candidates are not expected to know every specific machine on their first day. Training and technical assistance will be available for company-specific equipment. However, this is not an entry-level maintenance position. Candidates must already possess a strong industrial-maintenance foundation and be comfortable troubleshooting production machinery.

Pay and Schedule

• Competitive pay based on experience
• Full-time position averaging 40 or more hours per week
• Primarily Monday through Friday during daytime hours
• Some Saturdays as needed
• Occasional after-hours emergency response
• Must be able to remain until urgent or assigned maintenance work is safely completed

Primary Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial production equipment
• Maintain industrial washers, dryers, steam presses, boilers, conveyors, sewing machines, motors, pumps, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and related equipment
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and steam-system problems
• Identify equipment failures and determine whether the problem involves power, controls, sensors, wiring, motors, mechanical components, air pressure, hydraulic pressure, steam, or another operating system
• Complete preventive-maintenance inspections, lubrication, adjustments, cleaning, calibration, and scheduled parts replacement
• Monitor equipment condition and identify wear or potential failures before they cause downtime
• Repair or replace bearings, belts, hoses, fittings, valves, pumps, motors, switches, sensors, seals, and other components
• Read and use equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, parts lists, and technical documentation
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, equipment condition, and unfinished work
• Respond promptly to urgent production and facility-maintenance needs
• Complete facility repairs involving plumbing, lighting, doors, locks, drywall, painting, carpentry, shelving, and minor electrical work
• Support production, retail, office, exterior, and grounds-maintenance needs
• Coordinate with outside contractors and technical-support providers when specialized assistance is required
• Communicate equipment status, repair progress, downtime, delays, and additional support needs to management
• Follow lockout/tagout, stored-energy, ladder, machine-guarding, electrical, and OSHA safety procedures
• Keep tools, parts, work areas, and maintenance records clean and organized

Required Qualifications

• Three or more years of hands-on industrial, manufacturing, or production-equipment maintenance experience
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair industrial machinery
• Strong preventive-maintenance experience
• Working knowledge of motors, pumps, belts, bearings, chains, gearboxes, and conveyors
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
• Working knowledge of HVAC, boiler, steam, or similar industrial systems
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, electrical meters, gauges, and other diagnostic equipment
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple repair requests, and complete assignments
• Good judgment about when to continue troubleshooting and when to request technical or vendor assistance
• Ability to document repairs and communicate effectively with management
• Dependable work history and demonstrated employment stability
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Reliable personal transportation to and from the main Mishawaka facility

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is highly valuable:

• Industrial boilers and steam systems
• Steam presses or other steam-operated production equipment
• Industrial washers and dryers
• Industrial sewing machines
• Conveyor systems
• Hydraulic pumps, cylinders, hoses, valves, and controls
• Pneumatic cylinders, valves, solenoids, regulators, and air systems
• HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Electrical systems, motors, sensors, relays, switches, and controls
• Welding and fabrication
• PLC-controlled production equipment
• Multi-site facilities or equipment maintenance

Transportation Between Locations

This position requires regular travel between company locations in Mishawaka, South Bend, Granger, Elkhart, Goshen, and surrounding areas.

A company vehicle may be available for authorized travel between work locations during the workday. Company vehicles must be returned to the designated facility and are not available for transportation between an employee’s home and work.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Lift and move 70 or more pounds when required
• Stand and move for extended periods
• Frequently bend, kneel, reach, climb ladders, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas
• Work safely around moving machinery, electrical systems, steam, heat, hydraulic pressure, pneumatic pressure, and stored energy
• Work indoors, outdoors, in production areas, retail locations, offices, and mechanical spaces
• Wear required personal protective equipment
• Respond to occasional urgent maintenance situations outside regular hours
