Position Overview This position is accountable for the investigation, review, and processing of access, utility, and road closure permits which are required by non-Department of Transportation organizations, when working on and adjacent to, state right-of-way, and wide load investigations.

Essential Functions Maintains harmonious relationships with applicants. Makes determination as to the acceptability of applications. Answers inquiries and instructs applicants as to proper permit procedures. Implements access and utility permit computer record system. Ensures subordinate personnel comply with all departmental safety rules, practices, and procedures. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR seven years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications Strong oral and/or written communication skills.

Conditions of Employment Valid driver's license. Occasional districtwide travel with occasional overnight stays. Occasional overtime. Successful completion of a background screening.
