Senior Software Engineer

C.H Robinson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Master Data Management team within Technology. In this role, you will be responsible for building a comprehensive technical vision and executing on that vision using both open source and paid geography data services to mature the geography system within master data. You will play a pivotal role in developing a robust platform and services you build will be critical in quoting, rating, booking, tracking, and delivery of customer shipments. If you are someone not only comfortable using modern AI development tools, but is genuinely curious about how to build reliable, production-grade automation and autonomous agents in an enterprise environment, let’s talk!This role can be based only in MN, IL or Kansas CityDuties & Responsibilities:Develop and implement a technical roadmap for geography data services (geocoding, routing, distance calculations)Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environmentDesign and develop proof of concepts (POCs) to validate new ideas and technologiesBuild resilient and scalable solutions that are critical to the platform's successConduct thorough research to identify and adopt the best technical products and solutionsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionalityStay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvementRequired Qualifications:6+ years of experience designing and driving implementation of large-scale software products or services that span multiple systemsExperience developing POCs and bringing innovative ideas to lifeDemonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teamsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesExperience with modern development languages (ex. .Net CORE, C#)Experience with database objects in relational (ex. MS SQL, Oracle) and non-relational databases (ex. MongoDB, Elastic, Cosmos)Experience with microservice architecture, CQRS, event driven and eventually consistent system design patterns and system flowsExperience with data streaming architecture and frameworks (Kafka, ESB)Experience establishing testing patterns, acceptance testing criteria, and reviewing others’ automated testsExperience with version control systems (ex. GIT, GITHub, TFS, etc.)Experience with CI/CD continuous integration / continuous deployment practicesExperience building cloud native applications and services (ex. Azure, AWS, GCP)Experience with end-to-end feature development including backend/API engineeringStrong analytical and communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas effectivelyProven track record of effectively delivering results in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple prioritiesBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or MIS; or, 4 years of equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GEDPreferred Qualifications:Experience modernizing legacy systems and incrementally moving complex business capabilities toward modern architecturesExperience designing highly automated, high-volume transactional workflows where human intervention is reserved primarily for exceptionsExperience with decision engines, optimization, rules systems, or intelligent workflow orchestrationProven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment while navigating ambiguity and multiple prioritiesDemonstrated curiosity and willingness to experiment with emerging technologies while maintaining sound engineering disciplineStrong customer focus and ability to connect technical investments to measurable business outcomesA learning and growth mindset that is open to giving and receiving feedbackValues a diverse and inclusive work environmentWe will review applications for this role on an ongoing basis and encourage all interested candidates to apply at their earliest convenience.Compensation Range$131,800.00 - $222,500.00The base pay range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for this specific location.
