Commercial HVAC Service Manager

About the Opportunity

Join a well-established union commercial HVAC service department overseeing a team of 18 experienced service technicians, along with dispatch, service estimating, and inside support staff. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, developing high-performing teams, and delivering exceptional service to commercial and industrial customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations of the commercial HVAC service department.
• Manage and mentor HVAC service technicians, dispatchers, service estimators, and inside support staff.
• Coordinate technician scheduling to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop service personnel.
• Ensure high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and exceptional customer service.
• Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and ongoing technician development.
• Review service quotes, work orders, invoices, and technician reporting for accuracy.
• Oversee preventive maintenance agreements and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Manage departmental budgets, KPIs, profitability, and operational goals.
• Coordinate with OEM manufacturers and vendors regarding warranties, training, and technical support.
• Maintain technician training records and implement ongoing technical development programs.
• Partner with company leadership to achieve company and departmental goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial HVAC industry experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing service teams.
• Strong background in commercial and industrial HVAC service (not construction or installation).
• EPA Certification and valid HVAC certifications.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Experience using service management software and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: Approximately $140,000 + performance bonus
