Assistant Branch Manager

Overview Assistant Branch Manager at a high‑volume branch supports the Branch Manager by supervising daily activities to ensure high quality customer service. Provides coaching and development of branch staff, demonstrates core values, and fosters superior customer experience. Maintains focus on sales activities and related results aligned with required production. Monitors compliance risks and operational exposure and assists with management of the branch budget. Responsibilities Assist in building a motivated and high‑performing branch team through effective recruitment, training, and development of staff. Conduct regular and quarterly coaching and career development conversations. Propose salary recommendations to Branch and Market Manager for approval. Responsible for sales and service coaching of branch staff and participating in branch activities and results to achieve individual and team goals. Develop decision making and business development skills for future leadership responsibilities in collaboration with the manager. Identify and establish new relationship opportunities with Branch Manager and business partners. Possess knowledge of consumer and small business products and services; deliver solutions through needs‑based conversations. Refer customers to business partners to meet current and future needs. Take ownership to resolve customer issues and complaints while delivering elevated responsiveness and customer satisfaction. Provide supervisory oversight of branch operations, compliance, and risk. Work with the branch manager to ensure profitability by managing FTEs, fee waivers, and other budget items. Oversee branch operations and controls and ensure understanding of information security and fraud risk. Represent the bank in the local market, fulfilling a leadership role with civic and community organizations. Other duties as required. Qualifications 4‑year college degree or equivalent experience in retail, retail banking, or financial services; 3 years of retail banking experience required. Business development and outside sales experience preferred. Leadership skills with excellent listening and communication abilities. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and customer relation skills. Ability to function in a fast‑paced, evolving environment. Problem solving and decision‑making skills. PC proficiency. NMLS Certification required or ability to obtain upon hire. Physical Requirements Communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Move about within or between locations; stationary up to 50% of the time; ability to bend, twist, crouch, and squat; ability to move objects up to 20 lbs.
