Family Law Legal Assistant

Employment Type Full-time, Temp to Hire Schedule Monday through Friday, 9 AM-5 PM with a 1 hour unpaid lunch. Responsibilities Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating appointments. Conduct legal research in family law, estate planning, landlord‑tenant matters, and related areas using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research tools. Draft, proofread, and review legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and case summaries. Maintain and organize case files and legal documents using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw. Perform data entry, document review, and filing in accordance with firm procedures and confidentiality standards. Assist with litigation support, including discovery, document preparation, and court filing coordination. Support attorneys with case‑related projects and other legal administrative tasks as assigned. Requirements 5 years of legal assistant experience. 5 years’ experience in matrimonial and family law required. Strong knowledge of legal administrative procedures and law office operations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, NJ Courts e‑filing systems, and AbacusLaw case management software. Experience using Westlaw and LexisNexis for legal research and case analysis. Excellent organizational, proofreading, and document management skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and other case‑related documents professionally and accurately. Experience with client intake, case file management, and litigation support. Strong communication, multitasking, and administrative support skills in a fast‑paced legal environment. Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
